Diffusers are devices used to disperse essential oils into the air. However, they may also be dispersed through the skin. Many believe this has more direct, beneficial and targeted results.
A few essential oils, like lavender, can be placed directly on the skin (referred to as “neat”), but most are too strong and concentrated to be used that way. They can be diluted in many different products, making skin diffusion into a useful and pleasurable method of reaping the benefits of essential oils. There are many high quality skin diffusion products available, but use caution. Often low grade essential oils are used in these products, negating any benefits you might expect to gain. Always look for therapeutic grade oils. Be wary of any oil labeled “perfume” oil. These are often chemical reproductions of real essential oils. Some of the products available are: massage oils, soaps, natural cosmetics, hair care, bath salts, skincare, lotions, acne products, perfume roll-on oils, hydrosols.
