Everyone loves the flickering flame of beautiful candle. By itself, it has a hypnotic, soothing effect that has been recognized for centuries. Just the thought can calm the mind. With the addition of aromatherapy oils, candles can become a powerful tool for relief of stress, improving focus and concentration, soothing nerves, etc.
Many scented candles use inferior quality aroma bases. If you have ever been annoyed by the scent of a candle, or noticed a lingering smell like the after taste of diet drink, this could be the case. One way to be sure you are getting the benefits of therapeutic essential oils is to add your own to an unscented candle. To do this, you must first light the candle and let it burn until you have a pool of melted wax. Blow out the flame, add the essential oil or blend of your choice, then relight the candle. Remember to always blow out the flame before you add more oil. If you want to be sure of the quality, and in control of what blends and material you use you might enjoy the make-your-own option. There is lots of quality materials and products available. Many people find this to be an enjoyable and often profitable hobby. If you prefer a ready-made product, there are many quality scented candles now available, as well as beautiful holders to display them in. The best ones I have found are in the menu bar to the left.
