Aromatherapy Information For Beginners - How To StartIf you are reading this you probably have heard of aromatherapy and the benefits it is believed to provide. You may even have bought a scented candle, soap, bath oil, or bath salts. But if you bought these products without paying much attention to the quality of the aromatherapy oils used in them, you probably missed out on most of the benefits you could have enjoyed. Worried about price? Though a few aromatherapy oils have price tags that can be prohibitive, such as rose oil, many high quality oils have very reasonable prices. With nothing more than one aromatherapy oil or oil blend, and a bottle of light carrier oil, you can begin to experience the benefits of true therapeutic aromatherapy. Here are some of the low, to no cost, ways to enjoy your high quality aromatherapy oil: Just place a few drops of oil on tissue or a cotton ball. Place some coarse or rock salt (sea salt works well) in a lidded glass container and add a few drops. Place a few drops in boiling water or add to a fountain (use discretion - some of the heavier oils could effect the fountain pump) + Make your own reed diffuser: using any glass or ceramic container, and any porous wood or plant material. Mix a few drops of aromatherapy oil with the light carrier oil (grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil work well), place it in the container, and place end of the porous word or plant material in the oil. Light an unscented candle and burn until some of the wax is melted. Blow the candle out. Place a couple of drops of oil in the melted wax and relight the candle. Add some of the aromatherapy oil - carrier oil mixture to sea salts for use in your bath. Add a few drops of oil to an unscented shampoo or liquid soap. Another often overlooked opportunity is bath soap. In any therapeutic program, consistency is important. Incorporating your aromatherapy into your bath helps insure that consistency. Many liquid and bar soap using organic and therapeutic ingredients are available at good prices. Is availability an issue? While therapeutic grade essential oils are not readily available at retail stores, they can be found in online stores. You will have to wait for delivery but you do gain the convenience of to-the-door delivery. Online stores, with price differences and quality differences, can be very confusing.
